German government says NO to Internet Explorer

Armando Duran says:

I am not a fun of IE (or Microsoft itself), but the funny thing when I read this originally was that at the top of the blog post there was big banner ad announcing IE … go figure!

Amplifyd from holykaw.alltop.com
The German government has issued an official warning, asking people to avoid using Internet Explorer, versions 6, 7, and 8. Microsoft had recently confessed that its browser provided the weak link in attacks on Google’s system, prompting The Federal Office for Information Security the give the notice.

1 of the 10 Reasons Google’s China Stand-Off Matters

Armando Duran says:

I can see how in the near future the fight over control of the internet may be turning like this. Social media may become an enemy to authoritarian governments because it is the voice of the people and sometimes a very loud voice that states preferences and demands truth.

Amplifyd from industry.bnet.com
  • It  raises the prospect that the Internet can be shackled by authoritarian governments with their own Web agendas, standards and values. Within the past year, the Chinese government has shut down thousands of web sites, arrested thousands of Internet users, and blocked social networking sites including Google’s YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

How to make good recoveries from bad communications

    Armando Duran says:

    Two simple simple steps

    Amplifyd from holykaw.alltop.com

    1. Acknowledge the problem. People are upset and confused. You need to note their disgruntlement. To ignore it is to be as rude as the communications directive.

    2. Apologize. Take the high road. Even if the mistake was not yours, as part of management, you should accept blame and apologize. You may express sympathy but do not throw senior management under the bus. Doing so will only make you seem like a finger-pointer.

Dream it. List it. Do it!

    Armando Duran says:

If you are an idea person (like me), this is the book!

    Amplifyd from www.43things.com
The idea of a life list is simple. What is it that you’d like to do but haven’t taken the time or had the motivation to do? We believe that the very act of writing ideas down helps you answer the question, “What do I really want to do with my life?” and puts you on the path towards accomplishing it.

6 Ways to Start the New Year Doing Instead of Dreaming

    Armando Duran says:

I wonder how many of these type of posts are all over the internet these days and how many times we continue to dream all the year and not do as much. Yet I really like the post-it: “Live Now, Do Now”

    Amplifyd from www.dumblittleman.com
It is the time of year where many people will attempt to develop their New Year’s resolutions. Whether you have one resolution or a thousand, wouldn’t it be a fabulous accomplishment to be able to say to yourself that 2010 was the year you stopped dreaming about accomplishing your resolutions and started to do them?

    Change Your Mental Map
In the article, “Leading Again for the First Time,” Dr. Chip Souba makes the assertion that “Sustainable success begins with transforming people first by changing their mental maps and thought patterns.” In my studies of success, the people that are most successful are the ones that change their perceptions of what they can do and as Dr. Souba said, change their mental map.
Increase Your Learning on the Subject

    Eliminate Wasteful Activities
    Set Realistic Time Horizons
    Recruit Others to Your Cause

    Take Action Now
Whatever you want to do, get out there and do it right now! It is the best way to get you started in accomplishing your goals.Read more at www.dumblittleman.com

    Healthy Keyboard Snacks & Habits

I need to set the reminders!

    Healthy Keyboard Snacks & Habits

You may be designing websites, programming, twittering and facebooking but these verbs don’t count as exercise. It is a simple but unescapable fact: The more you sit the less fit you’ll become. If your job revolves around the computer screen then you need to take some real steps to be as healthy as possible to keep your muscles and cardiovascular system healthy.

    Get Up

get away from the computer and take a brisk 10 or 20 minute walk

    Drink Water

Make it your goal to drink 3-4 eight ounce servings of water a day.

    Eat regular meals

Take a break from the computer and eat balanced balanced meals that feature lean meat/fish/poultry, vegetables and whole grains.  Avoid highly processed foods that are high in sodium, fat and sugar.

    Exercise

Get at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week.Read more at www.thewebsqueeze.com
